JOB OVERVIEW• Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician• Job Type: Locum Tenens• Location: Jefferson, IA• Service Setting: Inpatient• Coverage Type: Clinical Only• Coverage Period: Starting December 22, 2025 Open/Ongoing• Clinical Shift Schedule: 7a 7p and 7p 7a dailyCOVERAGE DATES• Start Date: December 22, 2025• End Date: Open/OngoingPATIENT INFORMATION• Patient Demographics: Adult and pediatric emergency cases• Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 3,000 annual visits (average 8 patients per day)• Admissions: Yes• Phone Consults: Yes, as required for patient transfers or specialty referrals• Case Mix: General emergency medicine cases across all age groupsFACILITY INFORMATION• Specialty Backup Available: Limited, no NPPA coverage• Support Staff Available: Nursing and ancillary ED staff• Reason for Coverage: Full-time vacancyPRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes, for clean files• Credentialing Timeline: days• Orientation: Conducted on-site as part of credentialing processCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS• Rate Structure: Daily overtime after 12 hours (based on differential); weekly overtime after 168 hours (based on fixed)• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: CoveredREQUIRED PROCEDURES• General emergency medical evaluation and stabilization• Management of trauma and acute medical conditions• Airway management, intubation, and resuscitation procedures• Coordination of transfers and consultation with specialty servicesJOB REQUIREMENTS• Licenses: Active Iowa medical license• Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine• DEA: Active DEA Certification• Certifications:• EM-boarded physicians: No additional life certifications required• FM/IM physicians: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required and must be current• Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred; prior community ED experience ideal• Other Qualifications: Ability to work independently without NPPA coverage; flexibility for day and night shiftsDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES• Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting to the ED• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a full spectrum of urgent and emergent medical conditions• Perform and supervise emergency procedures as clinically indicated• Communicate effectively with nursing and ancillary staff to ensure patient safety and efficient throughput• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation• Adhere to facility policies, safety standards, and compliance requirements• Collaborate with hospital administration to ensure consistent coverage and high-quality patient outcomes
