Airport Police & Fire Officer 5 / Deputy Chief - Operations (PCN 253635) Position located at Anchorage International Airport (ANC) Police and Fire Department. Responsible for overseeing and managing law enforcement, Aircraft Rescue Firefighting, rescue operations, hazardous material response, EMS, code enforcement, safety, and general emergency response functions. Manages staffing, equipment, budget, and departmental policy. Supports 54 employees including officers and technicians; may also direct the Airport Communication Center in the Chiefs absence. Responsibilities Oversee and manage all law enforcement and firefighting operations at ANC. Coordinate aircraft rescue and firefighting, hazardous material response, EMS, code enforcement, safety, and general emergency response. Manage staffing, equipment, budget and readiness, ensuring operational capabilities. Provide recommendations for departmental policy changes and enforce department policies and procedures. Administer and supervise up to 54 employees, including 12 APFO leads, 41 officers and 1 criminal justice technician. Direct Airport Communication Center and perform additional administrative duties in the Chiefs absence. Required Certifications Alaska Police Standards Council 13 AAC 85.010 State of Alaska Fire Fighter I State of Alaska Fire Fighter II Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting certification Valid drivers license (AS 28.15.011) Bloodborne Pathogens Training (OSHA) Firearms qualification Physical fitness meeting Department requirements Minimum Qualifications Active Alaska Police Officer certificate or eligible under 13 AAC 85.060. Either two years experience as Airport Police & Fire Officer 4 or five years progressive law enforcement experience with a minimum of three supervisory years. U.S. citizen; age 21 or older within one year of hire. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Valid drivers license. Must obtain Firefighter I and II certifications within 12 months of appointment. Eligibility & Background Requirements Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: No felony or misdemeanor domesticviolence convictions. No convictions for dishonesty, moral turpitude, serious physical injury, DUI offenses (2) or drug abuse within last 10 years. No use of controlled substances (except exempt cases) within last 10 years. No prior denial or suspension of police or firefighting certification unless rescinded. Background investigation includes criminal review, fingerprinting, medical, visual, hearing, psychological evaluations, truthverification exam, and drug screening.
