Job DescriptionJob Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. A licensed Special Education Teacher is needed to support a specialized middle school program for students with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time, contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with potential for extension. The role is based in a structured classroom environment serving six students, staffed with two paraprofessionals and additional 1:1 support personnel. The teacher will act as the teacher of record, providing instructional leadership, implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating closely with the classroom support team.
Serve as the primary instructional leader for students with significant support needs, including those diagnosed with ASD
Support students with toileting and other personal care needs as necessary
Valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license
Experience working with middle school students, especially those with ASD
Ability to collaborate effectively with support staff and maintain professional communication
Successful completion of drug screening, fingerprinting, and background checks
Location: Middle school in Amherst, MA (Forest Park Middle School, Springfield area)
