An associates or other degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, CDA, or a high school diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years (2500 hours) working with children All state-required background checks (State Police, Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprinting, and NSOR) A recent Health Report with TB test First Aid and CPR certification (must include pediatric), and Fire Safety Training Mandated Reporter Training 2 Written References "Get Started with Center-Based Care: Building Blocks for Quality" Training An ability to obtain and maintain all other training or certification requirements not listed above in accordance with the center's policies and partnerships with DHS and other organizations (Keystone Stars, CACFP, etc.) within designated deadlines *Reports to* Director and Administration *Function* It is the responsibility of classroom teachers to maintain the security and safety of the children; foster a good relationship between children, the center, and families; and implement an educational program that is developmentally appropriate, effective, and consistent with the center's philosophy and goals. *Responsibilities* Weekly preparation and implementation of daily activities and lesson plans (with Big Day for PreK Curriculum as a framework), ensuring that all developmental areas are addressed Assist in developing an appropriate daily posted schedule Guiding children through the posted daily schedule and routines Supervise children at all times by sight and sound. Record keeping, observation, and assessment of each child Management of interest centers and play areas, using appropriate group management Frequently alter learning centers and displays according to current themes and to keep them engaging Assure that all practices and activities are in compliance with licensing regulations Participate in staff development, staff meetings, and professional development activities Promotion of family involvement through means such as verbal, written, and electronic communication Conducting Parent - Teacher Conferences at regular intervals and as needed Maintenance of an orderly classroom space, including supply and toy storage areas, and notifying Director of low supplies or problems with the facility An ability to physically interact with the children, including but not limited to: safely lift up to 30 pounds, sitting on the floor and child-sized chairs, be outside in the cold or heat, stand for extended periods of time, and bend, stoop, or kneel to be at a child's level An ability to utilize technology for recordkeeping, as well as internal and external communication Maintaining safe food handling procedures and assisting in meal times and other minor food-related duties Preparation for and attendance at special events (Orientation Night, WInter Concert, Graduation, etc.) WIllingness to be flexible to perform other job-related tasks as the need arises to maintain a quality program *Schedule* Year round employment. Must be willing to work afternoon shifts. The center is open 6:45 AM - 6:00 PM. There are varied shifts available.
