Executive Underwriter - Commercial Surety
Join Zurich Insurance as an Executive Underwriter - Commercial Surety focused on the NY/NJ Metropolitan region. The role expects a hybrid schedule with 3 days a week in office/marketplace, based out of our NYC or Parsippany locations.
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
Qualify accounts to meet the organizations appetite while balancing sound business opportunity.
Make agent/broker/customer and onsite calls with a planned and wellprepared purpose.
Crosssell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90120 days prior to effective date.
Update required systems with details of broker/client visits and account status within specified time frame.
Serve as key contact for assigned target accounts.
Develop strong broker and client networks relating to the industries underwritten by our Business Unit.
Lead complex technical or longterm (over 6 months) business projects to implement new or changed systems, programs or products.
Investigate, recommend and implement leadingedge technical solutions when they meet customer needs.
High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in Underwriting, Finance, Accounting, Banking or marketfacing area.
High School Diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprenticeship program (Associate Degree) with 1+ year of experience in Underwriting, Finance, Accounting, Banking or marketfacing area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprenticeship program (Associate Degree) with 4+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
Knowledge of line(s) of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Experience handling large commercial accounts.
Highly preferred indepth knowledge of Surety line(s) of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
Bachelors degree.
Microsoft Office experience.
Ability to effectively assess risk.
Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and winwin negotiation.
Possess a high level of customer service by meeting or exceeding broker and/or customer expectations with respect to required deadlines.
Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.
The proposed salary range is $122,875.00$201,250.00 with shortterm incentive bonus eligibility of 15%. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases.
