UPMC is seeking a dedicated  Sr. Respiratory Therapist, RRT to join our team and provide exceptional care to our patients. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. , with an every other weekend and holiday rotation. This position is sign-on bonus eligible Candidates with 1+ years of experience are eligible for a $20,000sign-on bonus with a 2 year employment commitment. Flexible Scheduling: Commit to working all full-time equivalent (FTE) budgeted shifts as night hours, ensuring a consistent schedule. Professional Growth: Demonstrate advanced knowledge in respiratory care and perform high-risk modalities in various settings. Key Responsibilities: Advanced Therapies: Administer therapies such as Nitric Oxide (NO) and Tracheal Gas Insufflation (TGI) in non-traditional settings like OR, ED, Cath Lab, and more. Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy, perform bronchopulmonary drainage, and assist with breathing exercises. Diagnostic Tests: Conduct pulmonary function tests, bronchoscopy, ABG lab troubleshooting, EEG, EKG, stress testing, and 24-hour halter monitoring. Patient Care: Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to determine treatment requirements. Equipment Management: Set up and operate respiratory therapy devices, ensure equipment functions safely, and perform necessary repairs. Leadership: Function as a Lead Respiratory Therapist in the absence of the Supervisor or Manager, providing training and support to other staff. Night Program Guidelines: Commitment: Participants who have completed their orientation period and have at least six-months or more experience and must work all FTE budgeted shifts as night hours (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.). Differential Pay: Receive an additional $2 per hour night program differential for night hours worked. Day Shifts: Any additional worked day shifts (meetings, competencies) will be paid without the night program differential. Purpose: Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. Demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge in respiratory care and perform all duties of a Respiratory Therapist, RRT across all patient populations and service areas. In lieu of an Associate's degree, must have 5 to 7 years of experience or have an NBRC Certification; Bachelor's degree is preferred. Two (2) years of total respiratory care experience with a minimum of one (1) year in critical care is required. Must successfully complete one (1) approved project from the department's project list during each annual performance review period. Project approved within 3 months of hire. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Employees practicing in Pennsylvania: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
