Description:

  • Manages projects and programs including planning, scheduling, and control of activities with minimal oversight and direction required.
  • Leads project team of five to ten people. Establishes priorities within projects and maintains a general knowledge of all aspects of the projects within responsibility scope.
  • Directs the activities of project teams; maintains a broad knowledge base of new technologies and industry trends as related to assigned projects; monitors project management processes and recommends changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency; manages project budgets, interacting closely with the finance organization and the project controls group; and coordinates with other project and line managers. Considered proficient in all aspects of project management

Responsibilities:

  • The project manager oversees project activities for refueling outages, forced outages, and on-line work as assigned, providing supervision of the staff involved in planning, leading, controlling, and monitoring to ensure that work is implemented safely, with quality, on schedule, and within budget. This includes all aspects of project implementation such as budget, work package preparation, parts procurement, ALARA planning, industrial and nuclear safety, clearance order preparation, work prioritization, resource loading, risk management, and work execution, including the resolution of schedule delays and conflicts.
  • The manager develops budgets, tracking costs against the budget for assigned projects. Regularly collaborates with clients, engineers, related parties, and management to assure proper progress and focus.
  • They also develop and manage contracts while interfacing with vendors. Project schedules are developed in line with project complexity and size with the aim of managing risk, accurately tracking progress, enforcing accountability, and managing the critical path and float.
  • Additionally, the manager prepares and delivers written and oral communications to various groups, including senior management, and develops and maintains long-range plan strategies associated with assigned projects.
  • Support is provided for the effective implementation of the Columbia Generating Station Self-Assessment and Corrective Action Program, particularly in outage support including OCC.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field from accredited college or university AND eight years' experience in a technical field OR Associates degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related technical curriculum from accredited college or university AND ten years' experience in a technical field OR High School Diploma/GED AND twelve years' experience in a technical field

Skills

  • Methods for reducing errors and enhancing human performance, along with cost-effective work execution methodologies. Managing projects, online work management, or activities related to refuelling and forced outage management.

Education:

  • Education in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field from an accredited college or university AND experience in a technical field
