We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our financial operations. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a keen eye for detail, and possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles. Responsibilities: As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a range of general accounting tasks, but will primarily be focused on processing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices. Key responsibilities include: 1. Reviewing all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment. 2. Processing credit card payments and check payments to vendors in an accurate and timely manner. 3. Performing expense coding to multiple cost centers, ensuring correct entry, proper coding and completion of transactions. 4. Maintaining accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions. 5. Verifying vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. 6. Protecting organization's value by keeping information confidential. 7. Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. 8. Using Great Plains accounting software for various accounting tasks. 9. Assisting in month end closing as needed. Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need a strong knowledge of accounts payable, general ledger systems, and procedures. Specific qualifications for the Accounts Payable Specialist position include: 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. 2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role. 3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in Excel. 4. Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting software. 5. Familiarity with credit card payments, check payments to vendors, and expense coding to multiple cost centers. 6. Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy. 7. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. 8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 9. Be able to demonstrate integrity, communicate clearly and effectively, and foster trust with team members and business partners.
