Quality Lab Technician Responsibilities: * performing laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support plant operations in a timely fashion * recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues; * using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs and or reports * following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks * Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. * Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. * Operates and takes ownership of advanced laboratory equipment i.e. Microwave, IC, ICPMS and GCMS * Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books. * Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps. * Completes R&D projects by assisting project team; performing analysis and participating in group and project meetings. Job Requirements Requirements: * the ability to understand theory, maintain and calibrate technical equipment; * time management skills in order to work on several different projects at the same time * Physical Requirements Candidates need to show evidence of the following: * the ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems * good hand and eye coordination and the ability to use technical equipment with accuracy; * flexibility in order to work with and provide support for a number of people * excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organization and to explain complex issues to interested parties; * teamwork skills * patience * attention to detail. * Due to the nature of laboratory work, normal color vision is essential. Excellent record-keeping skills are also required, along with basic math skills and computing
