JOB OPPORTUNITY Town of Windham seeks Finance Director The Town of Windham (population of 16,000+) located in Southern New Hampshires I-93 corridor is seeking an experienced Finance Director to join our leadership team. Under the direction of the Town Administrator and working with an experienced Assistant Finance Director who has worked for the Town for 5 years, the Finance Director is responsible for overseeing the Town financial operations. Windham is a full service and growing community with over 100 full-time equivalent employees, three collective bargaining units, and an approximately $22 million operating budget plus other funds and activities. While any combination of the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrating ability to complete the role will be considered, the ideal candidate will have five years of experience as a finance director in New Hampshire, municipal auditor, or similar role and a bachelor??s degree in accounting, finance, public administration or equivalent. This position coordinates the Towns audit and requires thorough knowledge of public fiscal administration including budgeting, purchasing, risk management, investing, bond financing, payroll compliance, audit and financial reporting, along with a working knowledge of GAAP and GASB. The Town currently uses MUNIS for financial software but has been exploring alternatives and plans to make a financial software transition overseen by the new Finance Director in 2026. Skills and experience that the ideal candidate will have include: . Experience developing and implementing financial policies. . Overseeing municipal audits and preparing financial statements. . Strong attention to detail. . Excellent computer skills, including a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products and municipal accounting software. . Strong leadership and management skills. . Effective communication and customer service skills. . Grant compliance and fund management. The pay range for this full-time salaried position is $108,832 ?? $138,898 with starting pay dependent on qualifications. The Town of Windham offers a competitive benefits package including earned time starting at 25 days per year and health insurance or a buyout stipend.
