Raytheon Technologies is looking for an Associate Director Systems Engineering (P6), Lead Systems Engineer to join our world class engineering team in Richardson TX. The Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) will work with a team of multi discipline engineers executing large software system development activities in an agile development environment. In the position the LSE will also function as a member of the Office of the Chief Engineer (CE) technical staff assisting with day-to-day technical baseline management activities across the program and ad hoc technical leadership assignments to support proposals, rough order of magnitude estimates, and customer studies.

What You Will Do
  • The LSE will be expected to accurately interpret customer requirements and objectives, effectively decomposing such into actionable direction to the program team and external stakeholders
  • The LSE will provide quality review and checks of capability descriptions, acceptance criteria, and assumption from a technical perspective across multiple integrated Product Teams and Agile Development Teams (IPTs & ADTs) to ensure technical expectations are well understood and executable
  • The LSE will assist the CE in providing review and understanding of the program GFX to assure accurate program comprehension of risk.
  • The LSE will be expected to identify and mitigate immediate and strategic risks by making decisions that balance required and desired technical capabilities against execution goals.
  • The LSE will interact and coordinate with program stakeholders, including program customers, government organizations, industry partners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to influence and guide program development efforts
  • The LSE will be expected to rapidly assimilate and apply knowledge in varied and disparate technical fields to achieve balanced system performance
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 years of prior relevant experience, OR an Advanced degree and 10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date, U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Substantial experience in performance of systems engineering practices in development of software systems to include system software requirements, derivation, solutions analysis and feature design refinement
  • Experience in development of software design and interface specifications, artifacts and documentation
  • Experience in analysis of software system capabilities, features and architectures
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working in the intelligence community (IC) performing system engineering development activities
  • Experience as an Agile Product Owner for a large software system development activity
  • Experience working in an Agile or DevOps software development environment
  • Experience with development of large software systems and design artifacts
  • Experience developing software capability and feature acceptance criteria
  • Experience leading system development and design, requirements development, requirements management and verification, system integration and test, preparation for and transition to operations for Software programs
  • Experience in strategic program development, customer interface, and contract capture in the Defense Industry
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Architectures and modernizing architectures to utilize cloud services
  • Experience developing work plans and driving program/team execution
  • Experience leading large and diverse cross-functional engineering teams
  • Experience managing resources with multi-million-dollar annual budgets
  • Experience using JIRA, CONFLUENCE or similar dev ops tools and processes
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Software based System Architectures for large message processing systems
  • Experience developing software Interface and feature design artifacts and acceptance criteria
  • Application-level knowledge of the full software development lifecycle
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Enterprise Architect, Cameo or similar modeling tools
  • Experience in Cloud environment development, applications and cloud tools
  • Master's degree in systems engineering, or other related discipline
  • AWS Architect certifications
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, and production for large software programs
  • Proven ability to develop effective internal and external customer/stakeholder relationships to ensure customer/stakeholder satisfaction and continued business
  • Direct experience with Engineering Risks and Opportunities (R&O) Management

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
