Are you ready to step into a role where you'll make a meaningful impact every day? As an Authorization Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in our practice, collaborating closely with our medical team and patients. Your primary responsibilities will include obtaining authorizations for procedures, surgeries, medications, and imaging studies, ensuring seamless coordination and communication between all stakeholders.

This is an in-person position at our Cherry Creek location.

Preference will be given to applicants with Athena EMR experience and/or radiology prior authorization experience.

Key areas of responsibility:

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this job but are not intended to be all inclusive.

Obtain authorizations for MRIs adhering to insurance requirements.
Verify eligibility and benefits for all procedure codes, ensuring accurate documentation.
Document work processes meticulously and coordinates paperwork efficiently.
Respond promptly to urgent/emergent situations with professionalism and compassion.
Demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
Ensure efficient telephone communication and collaborate effectively within the authorizations department and across other departments.
Scheduling and rescheduling patients.
Being the main advocate for our patients when speaking directly with insurance companies on the phone as needed.
Collaborate with health-care providers to obtain prior authorizations for medical procedures, treatments, and services.
Review insurance requirements and guidelines to ensure accurate and timely submission of authorization requests.
Verify patient eligibility and benefits coverage for prescribed treatments and services.
Communicate effectively with insurance companies, health-care providers, and patients to facilitate the authorization process and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
Maintain thorough documentation of authorization requests, approvals, and denials.
Monitor authorization status and follow up as needed to expedite approvals and minimize delays in patient care.
Stay informed about changes in insurance policies, procedures, and regulations related to prior authorizations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum 2 years of experience as an Authorization Specialist preferred.
MRI authorization experience with radiology background highly preferred.
Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
Familiarity with contracted insurance plans and procedures.
Strong computer and phone skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively.
Must be organized
Must be able to work well under stressful conditions.
Must have excellent patient/customer care skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 2 to 20 pounds unassisted.
Regular sitting, standing, stooping, walking, stretching, and reaching.
Prolonged periods of desk work and computer usage.
