The University of North Dakota, College of Engineering & Mines seeks to hire an Assistant Research Professor with a focus on computer vision, neural networks, augmented reality, and robotics. This position will be expected to support various research related to National Security. Successful candidates will be appointed to a position in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and will support the University's National Security Initiative to grow UND's portfolio of research programs related to national security.
To support various DoD research projects conducting research in computer vision, neural networks, augmented reality, and robotics. Supervise students working on various research projects. Publish research papers based on this work. Produce research grants and obtain external funding.
- Work with a highly collaborative group across campus to meet the contracted objectives on various research projects.
- Develop and implement computer vision, machine learning, augmented reality, and robotics algorithms.
- Conduct innovative research in computer vision, neural networks, augmented reality, and robotics and work with students to disseminate the results.
- Mentor a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Collaborate with people across campus to pursue external funding and create novel research proposals.
- Strong background in computer vision, neural networks, and robotics
- Excellent programming skills in Python and C++
- Experience with Tensor Flow and Pytorch
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team to solve complex research problems.
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on computer vision, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.
- Established track record of conducting research and publishing the results in top-tier conferences and/or journals.
- One or more years of programming skills in Python and C++
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident due to projects and position funding
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
