Job Summary of the Radiology Technologist

Responsible for performing all diagnostic radiological procedures in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to physician’s orders. As a member of the care team, the Radiology Technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care. In addition, the Radiology Technologist must be able and willing to cross-train into other appropriate modalities. Under the direction of the Laboratory department, all modalities will be responsible in assisting with the collection of patient specimen(s), the proper labeling of that specimen(s) and the safe delivery to the lab department. Their other duties will include quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications of the Radiology Technologist

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards

EXPERIENCE:

  • Entry-level graduate Radiologic technologist will be accepted depending shift and technical responsibility of the shift
  • Preferred: One year of experience in an acute care setting as an X-ray Technologist

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certification with Texas Medical Board (TMB)
  • Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (R)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
