Description:
The Department of History at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a two-and-a-half-year postdoctoral fellowship in Early American History, beginning January 2024. We welcome applications from scholars working in early American history, broadly conceived. Scholars with interests in the late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth centuries, including those who focus on the American Revolution, the early American republic, the history of women and gender, and the history of race and slavery in North America and the Atlantic world, are especially encouraged to apply. The fellow will teach two courses per semester. Among those courses will be both halves of the US history survey. The fellow will also have the opportunity to teach upper-level courses that align with their research interests. The Department of History promotes the professional development and career advancement of all its members. The fellow will be paired with a faculty mentor in the Department of History for the duration of their time at the University of Oklahoma. The department, working with the University of Oklahoma Arts and Humanities Forum, will sponsor a manuscript development workshop to assist the fellow in preparing a book manuscript for publication. The fellow will be eligible to apply for funds for research and conference travel. Qualifications:
A PhD in History or a related field is required by January 2024, the time of the appointment. Candidates who do not have a PhD in hand at the time of application must include a letter from their committee chair stating that the candidate will have completed all degree requirements before the start date of the postdoc position. Applicants must be no more than four years beyond conferral of the PhD.
