About the opportunity:Supervises the development, implementation, and organization of the Total Joint Service Line as well as the coordination of care for patients. Coordinates the efforts between surgeons, hospital administration and staff while tracking the progress of the program and identifying areas requiring attention. The Coordinator is responsible for all program management, report generation and reviews, process improvement, patient satisfaction, financial performance and administrative activities related to the Total Joint Service Line. This person is responsible for total joint hip and knee cases between two facilities, mainly focused on high volume total hip and total knee arthroplasties and advanced orthopedics. Functions as a liaison between OR leadership, care teams, and patients.
What you will do:- Serves as a liaison between the OR leadership, ORs, patients within the service line, and the physician's offices and care teams.
- Possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies in performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Functions with working knowledge of AORN standards.
- Maintains and checks all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicator if present, and expiration dates. Ensures that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
- Monitors sterile field for events that may contaminate, interfere, or alter field and initiates or notifies of need for corrective action and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Monitors, evaluates and revises preference cards and knows the order in use of material and supplies.
- Maintains flexibility while contributing to the individualized, ongoing delivery of care within the scope of practice.
- Models effective, timely communication with the perioperative team with full participation in Time Out Process to include Briefings and Debriefings.
- Assists team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
- Models professional behavior to include maintaining currency in new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment.
- Assists with patient coordination of patient experience, operating efficiencies and throughput.
- Performs follow up communication and documentation, throughout patient experience regarding all patient updates, issues, and scheduling. Responsible for follow up communication and documentation through electronic health record (EHR) platforms and necessary coordination with clinical providers through 90 days post-surgery.
- Responsible to identify and escalate concerns as needed regarding patient care and experience, reporting patient experience and service concerns through leadership and document occurrences through Vail Health Quantros and EHR for adequate follow up.
- Responsible for intervention and escalation of patient medical concerns through Director and associated clinical team with proper documentation completed in the EHR.
- Collaborates and communicates with all interdisciplinary groups and are responsible for the quality and delivery of services of Total Joint Service Line.
- Assists Case Management with auditing patient status orders prior to, during, and post-surgery for consistency and clean claims.
- Role models the principles of a Just Culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
- 3 years of working experience as an Operating Room RN in a high volume total joint center.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete patient communication documentation within relevant EHR platforms. - Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
- Graduate from BSN, Diploma or AD nursing program

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
