This 465+ bed hospital is dedicated to providing exceptional patient-centered care, combining compassion with advanced health care technology. They are searching for a Director of Laboratory Services who will contribute to this mission, bringing both expertise and a collaborative spirit to the role.
The ASCP-certified Director of Laboratory Services will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer and will oversee both the operational and clinical aspects of laboratory and lab core services. This role is supported by a tenured Department Manager, ensuring a robust leadership team and a strong support system.
As the Director of Laboratory Services, you will lead a department of over 30 staff members, including Registered Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Laboratory Technicians. The Director will demonstrate exceptional leadership acumen, successfully collaborating with multidisciplinary staff and key departments such as ICU, Emergency Department, and Internal Medicine. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and excellence in patient care.
The Director of Laboratory Services will oversee all hospital and clinical lab core services, managing staff, equipment, and resources. You will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality for hospital staff and patients. This role involves developing clear performance expectations, resolving performance issues, maintaining the departmental budget, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in strategic planning, helping to shape the future direction of the laboratory services department.
In this role, your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring laboratory operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy, spearheading quality improvement initiatives, and staying abreast of advancements in laboratory practices and technologies. You will also be tasked with mentoring and developing your team, promoting professional growth and ensuring a high level of competency within the department.
