Department: Vad Program

FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Pay: $37.06 - $57.44 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary:
Supports patients undergoing Mechanical Circulatory Support. Provides therapy-specific education for patients, caregivers, staff, providers, and community partners. Optimizes health care team interventions; meets discharge goals and long-term care outcomes. Serves in an on call capacity.

Responsibilities:
Serves as the primary nursing care coordinator prior to, during and after the implantation of a Mechanical Circulatory Device. Serves as a clinical leader for associated teams. Provides care coordination to patients, including 24/7 on-call availability.

Reviews Mechanical Circulatory Support policies, procedures, and manuals. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Maintains Mechanical Circulatory Support program registry and statistics.

Assists with outcomes tracking and national comparison reports. Collaborates on clinical trials and research projects.

Educates and assesses staff in the use of Mechanical Circulatory Support. Leads train-the-trainer initiatives and super-user formats to ensure provider competency. Coordinates community resources and works with patients and caregivers to ensure emergency backup support systems.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

  • * Advanced Cardiac Life Support
    * Registered Nurse
  • Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience.
    State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
    1 year of related clinical experience. Critical care experience.
  • Mechanical Circulatory Support Device Coordinator experience.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
