  • Primarily Outpatient with minimal inpatient float
  • Physical therapy services are provided in response to a physician's referral and physical therapists plan of care, in accordance with the laws governing the state of New Mexico, and within the scope of the therapist assistant's training, knowledge, and experience.
  • This may include, but is not limited to, treatment of functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, sensation, wounds, ambulation, balance, social, and environmental needs.
  • Direct patient care is provided to individuals of all ages, as his or her caseload demands.
  • Physical therapist assistants will assist in coordinating and providing patient and family education, and execute effective physical therapy services as appropriate.
  • Therapist assistants will consult and coordinate with interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment.
  • The employee will participate in educational programs, quality improvement, and program development.
  • Non-patient responsibilities are to be completed as assigned.
  • Therapist assistants will pursue continued education opportunities and educational goals in addition to assisting with the marketing of physical therapy services.
  • Job Requirements
  • Providing skilled treatment of functional mobility, motor function, muscular strengthening, sensation, wounds, ambulation, balance, social, and environmental needs
  • Following an appropriate plan of care that includes measurable functional goals while considering patients psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs
  • Providing clear documentation that meets APTA guidelines and billing for appropriate charges in a timely manner
  • Perform family/caregiver/patient education to increase independence upon discharge
  • Basic computer Ability to efficiently schedule and perform patient care independently
  • Education: Graduate of nationally-accredited PTA program
  • Work Experience: Greater than one year of experience preferred, but new graduates welcomed to apply
  • License/Certification: Must be eligible for current licensure with the New Mexico State Physical Therapy Board. BLS required before employment begins.
