The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to child protection, multidisciplinary collaboration, and providing expert medical evaluations and testimony in cases of child maltreatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough medical evaluations and assessments of children suspected of being victims of abuse or neglect.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including social workers, law enforcement, legal professionals, and other healthcare providers.
- Provide expert medical opinions and testimony in legal proceedings as needed.
- Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary team meetings, and community outreach programs.
- Develop and implement treatment plans and follow-up care for affected children.
- Educate and train medical staff, students, and community partners on recognizing and responding to child abuse and neglect.
- Advocate for the health, safety, and well-being of children within the healthcare system and the community.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification in Pediatrics; fellowship training in Child Abuse Pediatrics is strongly preferred.
- Valid medical license to practice in the state of West Virginia.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in pediatrics, with a focus on child abuse and neglect.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical care and ethical conduct.
- Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally challenging situations with compassion and professionalism.
