*Bradley Hospital is hiring Behavioral Health Specialists for our Adolescent Inpatient Unit *

*PRIMARY PURPOSE AND REPONSIBILITIES: *

*Reports to: Clinical Nurse Manager/Program Director*

· *Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, actively engage with children throughout shift, organize unit activities. *

· *Supervise assigned children in daily routines and actively assist with activities of daily living. Adapt care style to meet needs of various children/adolescents. *

· *Identify, report, and resolve potential/actual problems on the unit. Demonstrate appropriate critical incident follow-up skills with timely reporting and documentation. Maintain appropriate boundaries *

· *Review and carry out care plan, actively participate in treatment team rounds and patient-specific discussions.*

· *Intervenes in disruptive milieu or destructive to self/other patient situations, providing timely therapeutic intervention to children in distress while utilizing the least restrictive, safest patient care alternative. *

· *Support therapeutic alliance with patient and family on admission, assist with separation process to provide a smooth transition. *

*Scheduling*

· Shift 2: *Evenings.* 3pm-11:30pm including mandatory alternating weekends, holidays as assigned. Part time available only at this time.

· Overnights available- part time- 11pm-7:30am, this is an overnight AWAKE role

· Mix of evening and overnight shifts, part time.

*Requirements *

· Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Service field preferred. Other education and experience considered and may be substituted for educational requirements at the discretion of the Hiring Manager. Must demonstrate aptitude and willingness to learn role related skills.

· 6 months to one year direct childcare work with emotionally impaired youth

· All employees must be vaccinated for Covid-19, and pass background check/DCYF/fingerprinting.

*Training: *

· Bradley Hospital Behavioral Health Specialists are required to attend a paid 2 week orientation which will satisfy certification requirements including: Safety Care Certification, Mental Health First Aid, CPR/First Aid. This orientation takes place from 7am-430pm Mon-Fri. Full participation is required.

*Hourly Rate/Salary Information *

$20-$24/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
