Willdan Engineering is looking to hire a Senior Project Manager to join their growing organization. The Senior Project Manager will be working directly with various business units to assist in optimizing the business process and driving change. This position is responsible for managing the design and plan preparation of small and average complex public works projects. The Senior Project Manager will be reporting directly to the Director within the Engineering group, and will contribute to best practices for implementation, training, and change management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Drive projects to successful conclusion within scope, budget, and schedule to ensure that the business value of the project is achieved.
  • Escalate issues and risks and proactively take ownership for resolution.
  • Track milestones and deliverables and provide regular status reporting to all levels of stakeholders (Executives, management, and project team members).
  • Drive the process and change management to achieve ROI and business value goals.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field required.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience and 5-7 years of experience directly managing medium to large complexity projects using formal project management methodology.
  • Experience and expertise will be valued higher than formal education.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Proven success managing projects in a matrix environment where influence without direct authority is required.
  • Knowledge of engineering regulations including construction codes, city ordinances, city standards, and federal and state laws and the ability to ensure compliance within these codes, and laws.
  • Ability to prepare, read, and interpret engineering reports and plans; organize and coordinate the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and estimates.
  • Have a clear understanding of accessibility standards and requirements, complete street concepts, and regional water quality regulations and requirements.
  • Direct experience managing projects with a blend of in-house and external resources (sub consultants).
  • Ability to align organizational and client goals with a focus on not only meeting project requirements but growing the business while meeting client needs.
  • Supervise staff, including establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, and conducting on-the-job training of entry level engineers and interns.
  • Participates in the preparation of engineering proposals including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Manages the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, State, and County officials, and other outside agencies.
  • Direct experience with business development and business strategy preferred, but not required.
  • Experienced in technical requirements and facilitating discussions with various stakeholders.
