- We have assembled a world-class team of doctors, specialists, nurses and health care professionals that utilizes some of the most advanced technologies, therapies and treatments available to care for our patients. This includes 140 pediatric specialists practicing 35 subspecialties and 800 Pediatric specialty trained staff.
- For a second time, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has granted AdventHealth for Children Magnet® recognition, which establishes the hospital as a national leader in nursing and patient care. Only seven-percent of the nation’s hospitals have received this recognition.

The role you’ll contribute:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible for providing clinical expertise in his/her specialty area to optimize patient/family, nurse, and systems outcomes. The CNS directly or indirectly plans, implements, and evaluates patient and family specific care appropriate to the complexity of the problems and resources of the system. Also assesses and evaluates care delivery models, and implements changes based on outcome data. The CNS develops education programs to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Supports complex patient care issues, identifies patients at risk for suboptimal outcomes and proposes a proactive plan of care. Coordinates and/or supports patient education programs and evaluates impact of patient education programs.
- Interprets and/or establishes practice standards, policy and procedures, standards of care, protocols, and critical pathways. Monitors practice standards and evaluates impact on patient care.
- Identifies problematic systems/ process issues, develops plans to improve, and monitors outcomes. Develops/implements process improvement and/or clinical best practice initiatives at the organizational and unit level.
- Facilitates the development of nurse’s advocacy and moral agency through teaching, coaching, and role modeling. Seeks additional educational options that support his/her clinical expertise in practice. Serves as a nursing leader through publications, research, consultation, presentation, or clinical practice.
- Knowledgeable about current research and evidence-based practices in area of expertise and recommends changes in practice as appropriate. Incorporates research findings into policies and procedures and standards of care. Conducts formal and /or informal research in areas identified by performance improvement, clinical issues and unit/hospital identified needs. Suggest areas of research and assist nurses who are involved in developing research projects/protocols. Participates with the Institutional Review Board and Nursing Research Council.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in clinical nursing specialty
- Current, valid State of Florida or multi state license as a registered professional nurse
- Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Pediatric Intensive Care experience
- Advanced knowledge of nursing theory and practice in specialty
- Skill in the use of specialized equipment used in respective area of practice
- Ethical decision making and patient advocacy
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of learning principles for population served
- Past teaching experience in formal/informal setting
