Job Description:

The University of Florida is committed to maintaining high standards in policy development and management, operating within in a rapidly expanding and highly decentralized institutional landscape. This necessitates the creation of a new role that will support the University Policy Group (UPG) in fulfilling its responsibilities under UF Policy 8-001 "Policy on Policies." This role ensures that university policies are appropriate, consistently applied, compliant with applicable laws and regulations, and aligned with institutional and enterprise-wide goals.

The UPG plays a crucial role in overseeing development of new policies, working with partners to migrate decentralized policies onto the UF Regulation and Policy Hub, providing compliance and legal guidance, and maintaining the central repository of university policies. Efficient management of these centralized policy processes is essential for sustaining growth and ensuring compliance. Under the supervision of UF Compliance and Ethics, this new role will assist in implementing and overseeing key functions of the policy program, enhance operational methods, and support university policy liaisons in research, policy development, and the policy review and approval processes. Essential functions of the role include:

Policy Program Administration:
Oversee daily operations, coordinates meetings, maintains records in line with regulations, and serves as the key contact for policy-related inquiries. Keeps abreast of policy issues in higher education and reports or escalates concerns as needed.

Policy Development Support:
Handle policy development requests and research, provide support in drafting and editing policies, and ensure timely publication of policy updates on UF Regulation and Policy Hub.

Training, Outreach, and Communication:
Develop and maintains training resources, deliver training sessions, and support units in creating implementation roadmaps for new unit/college policies or formalizing existing policies.

Compliance Program Support:
Conducts research for the compliance team, supports UFCE compliance risk management initiatives, and performs additional duties as required.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience and education.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of experience in appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor degree or master's degree in an appropriate area.
  • Relevant professional certification(s), including CCEP, etc.;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to function in a team setting;
  • Ability to successfully interact with persons in a variety of professional levels;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to follow policies and procedures, including specific formatting requirements;
  • Ability to research and understand complex laws and regulations;
  • Prior experience producing and delivering adult educational/training presentations;
  • Moderate knowledge and skill with MS Office tools (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) as well as Zoom and Teams.
