SUMMARY
Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of the engineering department. Participates in the strategic planning and budget initiatives in addition to problem solving. Works within the guidelines, policies, and mission of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for specific engineering and administrative projects as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications. Develop bids/budgets by estimating labor, material, and construction costs. Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards. Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
Support company objectives and lead management performance. Meet company budgets and financial goals. Implement and oversee cost control measures to strengthen Gross Profit
Participate in the hiring process; conduct technical training and orientation of new hires.
Supervise and train existing project team members as necessary.
Manage and evaluate productivity of engineering department and assist in conducting performance review and employee counselling process based on employee attendance, productivity, and other performance markers, as needed.
Interface and coordinate with account management and sales. Manage, monitor, and evaluate workflow and reporting within operations. Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
Manage relationships with internal and external clients. Maintain close cooperation with new product development and procurement team, as well as interact with international counterparts, Develop and maintain all third-party relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service-providers.
Lead business reviews with key partners and vendors to stay abreast of industry developments.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program with experience in business management is strongly preferred.
5 years of related practical experience.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved with plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Willingness to learn or currently knowledgeable in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code Standards.
Ability to learn or current knowledge of all OSHA requirements in relation to electrical engineering and company safety policies.
Knowledge of PLC programming and HMI programming software preferred.
Must possess a good command of PC Skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and present technical material required.
Must be able to perform after hours emergency calls as necessary.
Must be able to travel to job locations that will require overnight stays
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
Ability to manage, collaborate, and cooperate with other team members
Strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Proven independent thinking and problem-solving skills and abilities needed.
