POSITION SUMMARY
Provides leadership, administrative supervision, best practices and direction to the department of Student Mental Health & Wellness. Maintains oversight of day-to-day administrations and operations of the department and Wellness Center, including staff and programming at multiple locations. Develops and implements policies for office personnel, maintains department budgets, and ensures comprehensive services for students impacted by mental health and wellness concerns. Works to collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to draft procedures and policies to align support for students impacted by mental health issues. Strategizes the marketing of program and services, along with developing and conducting campus-wide education and training to increase awareness and support for mental health services. Works to foster internal and external relationships and works with staff to establish Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with off-campus providers for student support. Works to align department with college’s mission, vision, and strategic goals. Identifies, maintains, and reports on program initiatives, assesses effectiveness of services, and strategically reports on data relating to student services.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide visionary leadership and management for Student Mental Health & Wellness department, including but not limited to; facilitating short-term and long-term planning, program development and assessment, and align program initiative with Strategic Goals of the College.
2. Perform administrative functions for department, such as operational and personnel functions, budget maintenance (institutional and/or grant), respond to immediate fiscal needs, annual performance updates and/or reviews (APU/APR), monthly department reports, expense reports, etc.
3. Supervise a team of licensed clinical social workers and mental health professionals, ensuring high-quality service delivery and professional development opportunities. Assist in the selection, training, motivation and evaluation of assigned staff; establish and monitor employee performance objectives; provide or coordinate staff training; assign work activities and projects; monitor workflow; which may include grant and/or contractual staff.
4. Provide administrative and clinical supervision, training and evaluation to interns and provisionally licensed clinicians that align with professional and ethical standards in higher education and the counseling profession.
5. Provide individual and group consultation to fully licensed staff to assure staff and department meet the needs of students, campus, and/or any contractual goals and funding requirements.
6. Work collaboratively with other departments and divisions to respond to campus and/or student crisis, minimize the duplication of activities, and promote mental health and wellness services and/or activities.
7. Provide leadership and collaboration to extended campuses to ensure services are available and develop strategies for referral of students at extended campus as well as remote services as needed.
8. Maintain and update electronic record keeping system and software utilized by staff (i.e. Titanium, Doxy.me, etc.) and review data-tracking measures and settings annually to align with statistical data tracking needed for departmental achievement, grant tracking, performance updates, etc.
9. Oversee and ensure student records, documentation, data, and information are maintained with strict attention to confidentiality in accordance with Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) and other related regulations.
10. Strategically develop communication campaigns to engage and inform students of services and activities, and provide guidance as it relates to outreach and referrals of resources and programs for students.
11. Develop, implement, and maintain new programs as determined by the Dean and Vice President.
12. Assist in coordination and implementation of the Emergency Response Plan in regard to psychological emergencies.
13. Maintain statistics on counseling and wellness services of the Wellness Center and generate reports to the Dean of Students and Vice President, including an annual report.
14. Remain competent and aware of industry trends, federal and state laws as it relates to mental health, clinical staff, student wellness, and mental health and wellness in higher education in order to adjust department procedures and budget as needed.
15. Collaborate and connect with community agencies and resources to develop a networking infrastructure for Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), referral source, and data tracking to increase the support and connection to resources for students.
16. Provide direct clinical services including individual, group, and/or couple psychotherapy, initial evaluation and ongoing assessment, triage screening, and providing appropriate referrals as needed to accommodate students’ needs.
17. Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, or clinical/mental health counseling.
2. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent license in the State of Illinois.
3. Five (5) years of experience working with clients/students in conducting case management, individual counseling, and crisis intervention in a support team approach environment, preferably in a university/college counseling center.
4. Experience and training in the clinical supervision of provisionally licensed providers.
5. Strong knowledge of the DSM-5 and training in counseling modalities.
6. Three (3) years of demonstrated strong, skilled, servant leadership experience, with a record of progressively increasing responsibility.
7. Knowledge of related sexual violence, domestic violence, mental health, and disability laws.
8. Demonstrate an interest in working with college students and adult education students and must have sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of first-generation, low-income, ethnic minority students, LGBTQIA+, and students with disabilities.
9. Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
10. Previous experience working in multi-disciplinary groups or teams and/or inter-departmental communication and coordination.
11. Proficient in Word, Outlook and Excel with ability to learn specific software such as Maxient, Titanium, and Ellucian Colleague.
12. Ability and means to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
13. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience working with more severe psychopathology.
2. A student-centered leader with deep passion for student life and associated best practices in context of higher education.
3. Interest, ability, and experience working with individuals in crisis in stressful situations.
4. Certification in providing counseling and education services via remote methods (BC-TMH), such as video or phone.
5. Maintain own professional liability/malpractice insurance.
6. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
7. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
