RN IV Response Team FT Nights

OB PURPOSE:
The IV Team is responsible and accountable for quality intravenous therapy for adolescent, adult, and
geriatric patients. Performs venipunctures for initiation and continuation of therapy, assesses and
troubleshoot IV issues, responds to all Code Blues and METs, maintains patient electronic medical
records, precept designated personnel as assigned, and may teach classes/programs about IV therapy
when appointed to do so. Accountability is monitored through performance evaluations, productivity and
through interdisciplinary feedback.
Embraces shared governance nursing organizational principals by serving on nursing councils as
participant or leader so that outcome, goals and objectives of nursing are achieved. Accountability will be
monitored through direct observations; achievement of team service goals including satisfaction, quality
and financial outcomes; and performance improvement and patient safety activities. The provision of
nursing care will be provided in an environment that embraces maximum participation by the staff nurses,
the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the ANA Practice Standards.
Demonstrates population-specific competencies (e.g. age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered
communication) in performance of role.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Must be a graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing. ADN or higher required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience with phlebotomy and IV Therapy required. Must have two (2) years experience in clinical
setting. Employees must have a minimum of one (1) years recent experience in an acute care setting.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current and valid professional nurse license in Georgia.
Must have current BLS certification.
