What we need 

Symbotic is actively seeking a visionary Director of Industrial Robotics and Vision who can seamlessly blend AI, vision systems, and the intricacies of 6-axis robotic arms. You will utilize your expertise in ABB, Cognex, OpenCV, and the realm of robotic manipulators, particularly in the context of package handling and cases, to lead us in our journey to revolutionize the world of industrial robotics and vision systems.

What you’ll do 

  • Technical Leadership: Lead hands-on initiatives, driving the design, development, and validation of AI-enhanced machine vision systems and 6-axis robotic manipulator solutions.  

  • AI for Vision & Robotic Arms: Champion the fusion of AI algorithms with vision systems and robotic path planning for 6-axis arms, ensuring our solutions cater to practical industrial scenarios.  

  • Product Lifecycle Management: Steer products from blueprint to market launch, ensuring designs are streamlined, scalable, and aligned with modern industrial needs.  

  • Platform Proficiency: Demonstrate expertise in integrating ABB 6-axis robotic manipulators, Cognex vision systems, and OpenCV applications with state-of-the-art AI technologies.  

  • Industrial Equipment & Package Handling: Lend unparalleled expertise in equipment handling, with an emphasis on cases, ensuring our robotic manipulator solutions meet industry benchmarks.  

  • Team Development & Mentorship: Cultivate a culture of innovation, AI-centric growth, and expertise in robotic manipulators within the team.  

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage product managers, AI experts, and other departments to harmonize product development, market launch, and user experience.  

  • Strategic Partnerships: Build enduring alliances with AI research entities, robotic manipulator manufacturers, and industry influencers to stay ahead of the curve.  

  • Trend Vigilance: Stay abreast of emerging breakthroughs in AI, machine vision, 6-axis robotic manipulators, and industrial automation.  

  • Up to 25% travel may be required. 

  

What you need 

  • Master’s degree or higher in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Vision, AI, or a related discipline.  

  • 12+ years in the machine vision and 6-axis robotic manipulator arena, synergizing with AI solutions. 

  • Minimum of 7 years in a leadership or directorial role within the industrial sector.  

  • Mastery over ABB 6-axis robotic manipulators, Cognex vision solutions, and OpenCV.  

  • Solid foundation in AI algorithms relevant to vision systems and robotic manipulator path planning.  

  • Acclaimed expertise in industrial equipment and package handling, especially cases.  

  • A hands-on, pioneering approach to AI challenges and robotic manipulator innovations.  

  • Stellar leadership acumen, with a penchant for fostering and motivating teams.  

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration aptitude.  

  • Analytical prowess and robust decision-making capabilities.  

  • Recognized contributions in the AI-integrated machine vision and 6-axis robotic manipulator sector, including patents, publications, or trailblazing product introductions, are a plus.  

 

Our Environment 

  • Up to 25% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
