Job Summary and Qualifications

The RN Manager of Surgical Services ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree of Nursing required
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice or other approved compact state required
  • 3-5 years experience in surgical services or related field required
  • 3 years of supervisory or management experience required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred

What you will do in this role:

  • Serve as liaison between staff and administrative personnel. 
  • Work cohesively with Director to develop standards and procedures for providing care and improve quality. 
  • Promote strong and effective working relationships with other departments within the facility. 
  • Responsible for oversight of unit from a budgetary stance as well as maintaining timekeeping system, schedules, and accountability records for direct reports. 
  • Work closely with supply chain to manage and control costs. 
  • Develop performance plans, identify performance issues, and manage performance and career development of direct reports. 
  • Approve and contribute to In-service education programs.
  • Manage and coordinates staffing schedules to ensure proper and safe coverage while maintaining budget requirements.
  • Coordinate quality efforts for unit and maintains any company wide goals aligned with the unit. 
  • Perform daily rounding in unit/s to ensure patient and surgeon satisfaction are met as well as visually monitoring employee performance. 
  • Investigate, resolve, and document resolution of complaints or incidents concerning patients. 
  • Maintain knowledge and follows all TJC, CMS requirements.
  • Successfully complete annual review and competencies on all employees.
  • Continually identify performance improvement initiatives.
