Position Overview:

Underwriter of credit for high-net-worth clients seeking life insurance financing. Role will require, due diligence, independent work, and ability to provide recommendations to upper management on credit approvals for both new and existing business. This is an entry level position and is 100% onsite at our downtown Chicago location at 231 S LaSalle.

What you will be doing:

  • Work with the new and renewal business teams on setting up credit folder and confirming correct information has been received to begin underwriting.

  • Lead due diligence and complete new and renewal business CAPS.

  • Work with the credit team on analyzing questions/concerns on initial deal structure and metrics.

  • Help streamline the overall underwriting process to speed up approval times.

  • Help revise various underwriting templates to make cleaner going forward.

  • Assist credit team on overall process changes to assist loan teams on the front and back end of the processes.

  • Pull credit reports on Borrowers/Guarantors to review their financial capacity.

  • Review personal financial statements and tax returns to verify liquidity supporting the transaction.

  • Continue to gain overall credit experience for various scenarios outside of WLF.

  • Ability to work within a team environment but ability to work autonomously via the new business and renewal pipelines.

  • Will be responsible for working with loan teams and being their point person during initial phases of a deal.

  • Long term goal would be to stabilize underwriting department with the potential to become underwriting manager for the WLF Credit Department

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience

  • Having a general understanding of credit/underwriting is preferred
