Standing on a foundation built through decades of strong performance and operating results, CSL Behring is at an important inflection point that makes Corporate & External Affairs, and Communications in particular, central to the company’s future success.  In addition to launching new therapies and technologies across our business, CSL Behring also has recently undergone a redesign of its commercial and medial organizations, involving the creation of two new functions within the CSL Behring Business Unit:   Global Medical Affairs (GMA), and Global Access, Business Operations, and Commercial Development (ABC).  This context requires a creative and proactive Communications professional who has a vision both to build the employee communities for the new ABC and GMA organizations, as well as to drive external portfolio objectives, BU visibility, and thought leadership to shape the market in accordance with our efforts to serve patients with our innovative therapies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a senior-level global role that is accountable for the oversight and management of planning and execution of all external, leadership & employee communications, issues & crisis management and other functional communications supporting the global CSL ABC and GMA organizations. This includes serving as the primary communications business partner and strategic counselor to the SVP, ABC and SPV, GMA and their respective leadership teams. The incumbent’s responsibility will include ensuring respective global integrated communications strategy and execution plan – aligned to support Access, Business Effectiveness, Commercial Development & Medical Affairs business priorities.  The leader will be responsible for ensuring all ABC and GMA employee communications are aligned and coordinated, and working with the Agile Site Communications Team as needed, ensuring that resources are leveraged at all locations around the world (including in Australia, China, Switzerland, Germany and the US.)

The role partners with the ABC and GMA senior leaders to understand their priorities and develops and executes strategic, compelling and differentiated Communications programs that deliver on ABC and GMA functional objectives. The incumbent must be able to think strategically and globally and be a strong, trusted counselor to senior ABC and GMA leaders and who can deliver measurable results that drive these objectives.

Reporting to the Head, CSL Behring Communications, the incumbent will achieve the following objectives:

• Serves as primary communications counselor to the CSLB SVP, ABC and the CSLB SVP, GMA.
• Is an active participating member of the global ABC and GMA leadership teams, assisting with annual planning, budget oversight, and development of Communications initiatives that support broader ABC, GMA, and Enterprise-wide goals.
• Leads strategic counsel to ABC and GMA leaders and executes programs that develop and tell the story of these organizations.
• Ensures all ABC and GMA communications efforts are consistent with CSL Group brand messages, both company and employer brands.
• Develops and oversees implementation of internal communications plans and external thought leadership plans for the SVP, ABC and SVP, GMA.
• Responsible for managing, optimizing existing resources and executing external communications in support of global ABC and GMA business objectives.
• Leverage multiple Centers of Excellence, and select and manage communications agencies, in support of business communications objectives for ABC and GMA.
• Manage and/or assist in the management of ABC and GMA issues that may impact the CSL business and/or the company’s reputation.
• Work with Agile Site Communications Team to ensure consistency, coordination of all ABC and GMA communications across the CSL Group.
• Ensure CSL Group communications processes and policies are established and adhered to globally within ABC and GMA organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to influence others, while fostering strong working relationships.
• Develop and drive the execution of Communications plans in area of responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to be effective in a highly matrixed organization.
• Champion best practices & execute across team through consistent engagement with global Corporate & External Affairs team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or closely related field; MBA or Master’s in Communications a plus.
• 12 years' communications experience including communications program/people management, in product or corporate communications/ public relations.
• Experience with communications related to biopharmaceutical access, product/portfolio strategy, and/or medical affairs preferred.
• Experience managing communications/teams within a global environment.
• Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable.
• Advanced, progressive professional development training is ideal. Applied Science communications experience of 10+ years is highly desirable.
• 3+ years digital communications experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a highly matrixed organization is a plus.
