DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: Directs and provides professional nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum, while complying with the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act. The registered nurse in the Pre-Anesthesia Surgical Screening office is part of a team that works to complete a comprehensive assessment of the surgical patient's medical, surgical and anesthesia history, ensuring all medical issues have been addressed and/or optimized prior to scheduled surgery. RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Graduate of an NLN accredited school of professional nursingCERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.BLS Certification required or within 2 weeks of hire date. .SKILLS: Ability to relate and work effectively with othersDemonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standardsWillingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancementIs aware of professional nursing standards and performs in accordance with themEXPERIENCE: Previous pre-anesthesia assessment or surgical intake experience preferred.NATURE OF SUPERVISION:-Responsible to: CSV Chief Nursing Officer, PASS Medical Director and Operations Manager of Anesthesia/PASSENVIRONMENT: -OfficePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for long periods.
