Machinist II/ Model Maker II - US - Apex, NCThe Blueprint (Role Profile) We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Model Maker II to join our team. As a key member of the R&D department, you will be responsible for creating multiple iterations of components for testing and evaluation, fabricating hand tool prototypes to precise specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality prototypes. Come build your future with usThe Build (Responsibilities)
Support the Test Lab Supervisor in overseeing Model Shop equipment, workload, and ensuring timely execution of project work.
Deliver high-quality prototypes for design validation and functionality.
Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure alignment with program schedules.
Work with outside vendors on complex projects and determine whether to outsource work.
Operate and program 3 & 5 Axis CNC mills, wire EDM machines, and manual equipment such as mills, lathes, and grinding machines for fabricating complex prototypes, test parts, and trade show demonstrations.
Utilize various Rapid Prototype (RP) techniques and equipment, including 3D printing (FDM, Poly-jet Technology).
Utilize Microsoft Office, SmartSheet, CAD/CAM software (Creo, Hypermill 3&5-axis, CAMplete 5-axis, Esprit EDM) for daily activities.
Perform routine maintenance and servicing of model shop equipment and machines to ensure smooth operation.
Maintain a clean and efficient work environment using 6S principles.
Work proactively with a strong sense of urgency.

The Toolbox (Requirements)
Associate's degree in CNC Machining, Computer Integrated Machining, or similar relevant field.
Experience with computer programs, including Microsoft Office, SmartSheet, and CAD/CAM software.
Experience with wire EDM machines.
Strong knowledge of 3-axis technology, CNC programming, including G & M codes.
Ability to perform precise measurements on machined parts for quality control.
Deep knowledge of common materials used for making tools and prototypes.
Experience with engineering drawings/models specifications, tolerancing, etc.
Strong self-starter who can work with little or no supervision.
Well-organized, detail-oriented team player capable of working in a deadline-driven environment.
Flexible to changing priorities required for successful job completion.
Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
