JOB SUMMARY:
The Clinical Documentation Improvement Educator will be responsible for facilitating accurate and timely clinical documentation through concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records, compliant physician querying, and assignment of working DRGs. The Clinical Documentation Improvement Educator will help identify opportunities for improvement in inpatient clinical medical documentation to reflect the accurate severity of illness, expected risk of mortality, and complexity of care of the patient, including appropriate principal diagnosis/procedure and secondary diagnoses/procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Current RN licensure, ACDIS Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist and
AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist within one (1) year of position.
Work Experience (Years and Area): Five (5) Years Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute/critical care in nursing and , three (3) years of inpatient based coding/CDI
