Scaffolding Supervisor

SUMMARY
The scaffolding supervisor will support the construction, maintenance and removal of staging/scaffolding utilized at the shipyard. Staging will be erected on the exterior and interior of units/blocks under construction within the shops, in the outdoor construction areas and in the dry dock.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Ensure that all PSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met
Supervise the subcontracted labor force and coordinate around scheduling conflicts as need arises
Keep up with current and future scaffold material inventory needs


Continuous manning tracking, progress reporting, and budget control and updating regularly in the production information in the data systems


Meet deadlines for scaffold requests
Maintain scaffold request system and assign levels of importance to jobs
Maintain teams’ mobile equipment in working order and contact United Rentals (or current rental contractor) for issues with equipment and see that it is repaired in a timely manner
Oversee that the staging that is being requested is needed and that it’s not possible to use an alternate means to get to the area that was requested, i.e. high reach or scissor lift
Maintain a safe and clean working area at all times throughout all tasked locations
Performs other related duties as required and assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
Supervise production workers within his/her team
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

At least 5 years' professional experience:
In shipyard with shipbuilding production or ship repair

In business with manufacturing of heavy steel structures
In the erection of scaffolding, handrails and or staging




Supervisory experience leading production teams
Possess valid OSHA 29 CFR 1926.451 Scaffold Competent Person Certificate
OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred



WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

This is a full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.
