SummaryYou will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC LEADER in the Production Department Structural Shop (C920 )of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. You will guide trade personnel on various aspects of sheet metal work for surface craft and nuclear submarines.
You will plan, assign, and review sheet metal work on surface craft and nuclear submarines.
You will demonstrate proper sheet metal work technique to trade personnel.
You will regularly communicate with shop supervisor regarding work operations an problem resolution.
You will evaluate sheet metal work to ensure shop operating functions are being performed in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
You will be required to meet the following physical requirements: visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, close hand-eye-foot coordination, finger dexterity, and keen hearing.
You will be required to climb ladders and/or scaffolding
You will work in small and/or confined spaces
You will work onboard ships.
You will be required to obtain and maintain qualifications for Nuclear and Radiological work.
You will be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
