Maintenance Mechanic IV - Dept. # 3722 Job Summary: Performs complex periodic preventive maintenance on automated and other production systems and equipment using knowledge of solid- state circuitry, electronics, electrical-mechanical devices, motors, wiring diagrams and schematics, computers, etc.Job Duties: Systematically identifies, locates, and corrects problems using well-defined troubleshooting methodology and practices. Must understand the impact of, and the relationship between, mechanical adjustments and adjustments to valves, switches and timers, with respect to the affect each adjustment will have on the equipment and the manufactured product. Performs and plans regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on all production equipment. Repairs, designs and installs pneumatic, hydraulic and/or electrical / electronic systems and components on all types of production equipment. Able to fabricate simple machine parts constructed of steel, stainless steel or plastics using basic machinist equipment. Must be able to perform basic welds using plasma cutter, mig, tig, stick welding, soft solder or silver solder. Troubleshoot electrical / electronic problems on production equipment using test equipment such as volt-ohm and amp meters and pc- based software. Must have a proficient knowledge of all shop equipment and power tools and be able to work with machinist, as needed, to complete various assignments. Understand and troubleshoot PLC, variable frequency drives, and other logic-controlling systems. Must be fully proficient and understand PLC programming and able to troubleshoot and correct problems relative to automated equipment and production equipment control systems. Performs machine setup and changeovers using Standard Operating procedures and in line with current OSHA requirements. Associate will be innovative, knowledgeable and intensely committed to ensure that every product and service we supply conforms to FDA and Quality System Regulations as well as ISO 13485/MDD Standards. Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment. Focus on minimizing unplanned downtime in pursuit of lean manufacturing objectives. Including but not limited to set-up/changeover reduction, SMED, TPM, OEE, Poke-a-Yoke, etc. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED)
Certifications/Licensing: N/A
Years and Type of Experience: 8-10 years directly related experience.
Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, complex schematics, blueprints and diagrams. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to outside vendors and/or co-workers, supervisors, etc. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, metric measurement and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret charts and graphs. Associate must provide their own hand tools for performing machine repairs. Tools should include industrial mechanic tools such as sockets, wrenches, pliers, punches, chisels, screwdrivers, dial caliper and micrometer, etc. Ability to apply commonsense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in production environment situations.
