That's what makes us Genentech, a member of the Roche Group.The OpportunityThis position is part of the Pharma Individualized Medicines Team responsible for the process development, manufacture and supply of personalized immunotherapies in collaboration with our global partners.We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to develop, implement and oversee various virus safety related methods as well as analytical methods in support of engineered cell therapy development and quality control (QC).The successful candidate will lead development, implementation, and oversight of various virus safety QC methods for release and in-process testing as well as characterization assays in partnership with others within the Pharma Technical Individualized Cell Therapy and Development (PTCC) organization as well as those outside of PTCC to enable cell therapy clinical development and commercialization.You will play an important role in our mission to become an industry leader in the cell therapy space with a robust and sustaining pipeline.This is a great opportunity for those who desire a career in innovative analytical development and QC using cutting edge technologies for the development of breakthrough therapeutics. The position requires creative thinking, scientific rigor, hands-on experience, a proven track record of successful method development and subsequent validation and implementation. The selected individual is expected to work independently as well as in a team setting to design and execute experiments.Responsibilities include:
Leading and executing development, implementation, and oversight of various virus safety QC methods for release and in-process testing within PTCC with a special emphasis on allogeneic cell therapies.
Act as a technical lead on Technical Development team for cell therapy CM&C development
Engaging and partnering with others to expedite virus safety test development and QC for cell therapy development
Executing lab work in a biosafety level 2 lab is expected for this position.

Who You AreMinimum Requirements
PhD in virology, molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, or other related disciplines with a minimum of 8 years of experience in allogeneic cell therapy development
The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise and skills in virology, molecular biology/microbiology with extensive hands-on experience and working knowledge in virus test method development and instrumentation

Preferred
Previous industry experience in allogeneic cell therapies is strongly preferred
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, and ability to convey complex data and problem statements clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Strong work ethic, ability to work well with others, demonstrated trouble-shooting capabilities, and robust problem-solving skills

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $140,500 to $260,900. Annual Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
