Shipping Manager

The Shipping Manager is responsible for sustaining service levels in addition to the overall efficiency associated with the delivery of customer orders. You will be responsible for managing load building team activity, freight/transportation related to outbound shipments. You will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all traffic functions related to freight movement into and out of the warehouse including the routing/expediting of shipments. You’ll Partner with transportation to introduce improvements as needed. You will be aware of ISO procedures and Wire & Cable Quality System Procedures including Work Instructions. Support Service Center Manager with administrative and managerial tasks. You will participate in floor walks, participate in huddles, and actively maintain an awareness of all shipping operations.

Continuous Improvement – Regularly evaluate the shipping processes and identify and implement improvements where necessary.
Implementing Policies and Procedures:?You will ensure that the team is maintaining the highest level of Safety, Quality, and Food Safety standards while also identifying, implementing, and documenting operational best practices. You will work closely with Corporate Transportation Management to develop and implement transportation policies and programs that meet cost and service objectives and customer requirements.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS:
Bachelor’s degree in distribution, logistics, business administration, etc. or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
3 to 5 years managerial experience in a manufacturing setting.
Experience with leading and applying lean principles in a manufacturing environment.
A working knowledge of warehouse and transportation management systems is required.
Ability to function and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced operating environment is critical.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills required.
Must be able to interface and communicate effectively within the organization, with business units throughout the company, and with partners across the supply chain.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others.
Strong problem solving, negotiating and decision-making skills, with a proven ability to manage complex situations.
Proficiency with computers, including the Microsoft Office suite.
Strong analytical aptitude.
