At Koalafi, we believe in a world where no one has to put an important purchase on hold. That’s why we’re making it easier for more people to pay for big purchases over time.
Over 17,000 retailers rely on us to match their customers to a payment plan clearly and quickly, all while reflecting well on their brand. Their 2M+ customers love us because we provide a flexible way for them to make payments, and give them an opportunity to improve their credit. Our 200+ Koalafi teammates enjoy inspiring and challenging work that accelerates their careers.
Interested in learning more about how we’re transforming the financing experience and joining our team?
After only offering responsive web-app tools to our customers, 2025 is the year we offer native mobile apps. This is a big opportunity for us to impact all areas of our business:
Improve user experience with new fresh designs and utilizing app-only tools like push notifications and biometrics.
Allow users to self-serve, reducing our support costs.
Give users an easy path to shop again with merchants they want, increasing consumer LTV.
Get a permanent spot on the consumers device where we can engage with notifications, badges, etc.
What You’ll Do
Your primary responsibility will be to lead the entirety of the design of our native iOS and Android app experiences. You’ll work with PMs and developers to research, prioritize, ideate, test, deliver and track the success of designs shipped within our apps. You’ll be our second design hire, reporting to the Director of Product design within the product organization. As a designer on a small team, you should also be able to flex into different projects and platforms across the company where needed.
Lead the design of our native iOS and Android apps, shaping how users shop, apply for financing, manage their accounts, and manage their profile and settings
Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and leadership to research, ideate, design, test, and deliver solutions aligned with user needs and business goals.
Track the success of shipped designs through product data and user feedback, iterating to improve experiences.
Ensure consistency across platforms by contributing to and refining our design system within Figma.
Work with tools like Slack, Confluence, and Jira to stay in sync with cross-functional teams.
About You
3+ years of experience in a UX/UI/product design role, working closely with product managers and developers throughout the design process.
Expertise in researching, designing, and shipping native iOS and Android apps, with a strong grasp of platform guidelines.
Advanced skills in Figma, using components, auto-layout, and prototyping to design quickly and effectively.
Versatile across user research, UX, UI, and service design, with a passion for tackling new challenges.
Strong independent problem-solving abilities, thriving in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment.
Deep empathy for users—able to conduct interviews, analyze feedback, and use product data to prioritize the right problems.
Ability (and eagerness) to present findings, proposals, and outcomes to leaders across the organization.
Strong design intuition and a rolodex of examples to help us move quickly, especially when data is sparse.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the fintech industry or working with financial products.
Experience in both B2B and B2C (or in B2B2C)
Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design principles
