Join us.We are currently hiring for our CNC Machinist team in our Cudahy, Wisconsin (suburb of Milwaukee, WI), facility. As a CNC Lathe Operator, you will set-up and operate Vertical Turning Centers (lathes) and will be an integral part of a successful team responsible for producing products and machined components in military, aerospace, oil/gas and other applications.In this role, you will be responsible for operating CNC Lathes to produce products/components ranging from 4 inches in diameter/short length to 65 inches in diameter/long length. As a CNC Machinist you are also responsible for ensuring all quality and safety standards. Maintaining equipment and supplies with this CNC department is crucial in helping ATI meet production goals and objectives.A successful CNC Operator uses their interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, understands machining principles, is a strong troubleshooter, and is able to analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively.This role provides a tremendous opportunity to work within a world-class operation that provides an opportunity for future career growth. This is a night shift position, 40 hours, starting Sunday night, leaving Friday morning; 11pm - 7am.Responsibilities Follows engineering setup charts to perform initial assembly of tools Interprets program to install all tools in the machine and establish offsets and adjust machine offsets to ensure part conformance Performs complete machining of first piece and verifies all dimensions on machines to correspond with drawing Uses instrumentation and gauges, along with shop tools to verify operational drawing requirements and part conformance Reads and understands basic technical drawings/blueprints to produce parts that meet specifications Measures and documents dimensions during operations and maintains appropriate machining and operations records.
Requirements Basic Qualifications 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferrable skills. Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension. The ability to read instructions, and perform simple measurements is critical.
Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechanical or another related curriculum Experience as a CNC Vertical Turning Center Operator/Machinist. Experience with metal forgings. Machining Certification.
Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently to achieve goals and objectives Strong knowledge of basic machining principles, GD&T and the ability to read blueprints Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use hand tools, measuring instruments and gauges to ensure proper setups and machining operations Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
