FTE Sr Accountant
~ The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure timely and accurate accounting for project costs and fixed assets Performs complex, professional, technical work related to the preparation and the maintenance of the company???s fixed asset records and systems This position is responsible for related balance sheet reconciliations and process development within the department This position works with various financial and governmental auditors with respect to project and audit preparations Considerable judgment and independence are required to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, rules, and State and Federal laws and regulations

Job Functions:

Records fixed asset additions and retirements in PowerPlan
Assists in formulating accounting policy and procedures involved in the tracking of job costs and maintenance of property, plant, and equipment records
Reconciles plant-related balance sheet accounts
Assists in reviewing, interpreting, and correcting all information in PowerPlan
Works with various business unit representatives to resolve questions related to job/project costs
Ability to cover all Fixed Asset Accounting duties during absence of others in group
Performs research, journal entries, and fixed asset entries, as needed
Track job/project costs to include maintaining labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs for construction work in progress accounts
Identify issues or factors inhibiting progress on individual projects, collect and analyze data

Primary Duties

Prepares complex monthly accounting journal entries.

Prepares monthly account reconciliations.

Oversees and/or processes the monthly close cycle.

Creates, updates, reviews, investigates and distributes schedules and financial reports pertaining to various phases of accounting functions.

Coordinates the preparation, analysis and verification of complex accounting reports to support responses to data requests in connection with regulatory filings and audits.

Ensures that all transactions are properly supported and are in accordance with GAAP, FERC, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.

May provide guidance, direction and training to other employees engaged in similar activities as well as other internal customers.

Documents accounting procedures, processes, and internal controls
Reviews for effectiveness and recommends revisions as necessary.

Assists in the development and implementation of various computerized accounting related systems, both in-house and packaged, to enhance the value of financial information provided to management
May develop and deliver training for various computerized accounting related systems
Provide user support to accounting systems.

Provides internal and external customer support when needed.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS



Educational/Experience Level:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field and four years of related experience in Accounting, or equivalent.


A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 7 years of related experience in Accounting.


CPA preferred.



Communication Skills:
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no background in the area under discussion, verbally and in writing.
