Job Title: Solder Assemblers I - 1st + 2nd shift

Department: Operations

Job Class: Hourly

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Position Summary:

This position assembles electrical, electronic and mechanical assemblies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Category Job Duties and Responsibilities Solder Assembler 1 - Able to read and follows procedures exactly as written.
- Continues to follows Good Manufacturing Practices (2D0-1004) including STEP-C
- Understands all aspects of Sn63 solder assembly including
>Thru-hole components
>Surface mount chips 0402 and larger
- Must recognize J-STD-001 standard regarding materials, methods, and acceptance criteria for producing solder electrical and electronic assemblies
- Full understanding of MtronPTI ESD procedures
- Use of hand tools such as torque tools, calipers, wire stripping, tinning pots, vacuum ovens, etc.
- Capable of performing tin and wick operations for gold mitigation
- Follow safe guidelines for chemical storage and use
- Maintains safe and clean working areas. Solder Assembler 2 - All function of Solder Assembler 1
- Able to be self-sufficient in main work area
- Assists in preparing and lining up work for Solder Assembler 1 personnel
- Understands all aspects of Sn96 solder assembly including
>Thru-hole components
>Surface mount chips 0402 and larger
- Understands and uses leak detection equipment (gross/fine), performs epoxy process Solder Assembler 3 - All functions of Solder Assembler 2
- Able to be self-sufficient in main work area
- Assists in preparing and lining up work for Solder Assembler 1 personnel
- Understands all aspects of Sn10 solder assembly including
>Thru-hole components
>Surface mount chips 0402 and larger
- Is well cross trained within their main department but can also work in other departments within the production area. Solder Assembler 4 - All functions of Solder Assembler 3
- Fully understands Space Addendum of J-STD-001
- Continually works and produces S-Level Assembly work
- Able to be self-sufficient in main work area
- Assists in preparing and lining up work for other personnel.
- Works with process engineering to suggest changes in process or product to improve throughout, yield, etc.
- Periodically checks with other peers or line leads to support other functions as needed in the finish product line
- Mentors employees.
- Trains employees. Solder Assembler 5 - All functions of Solder Assembler 4
- Is recognized as the resident expert in the assembly area.
- Typically, an Area Lead with additional responsibilities of assigning work, inspections, AX transactions and other similar responsibilities as assigned.
- Is well cross trained within their main department but can also work in other departments within the production area.
- Mentors employees.
- Trains employees.

- Ability to switch between areas daily as needed Solder Assembler 3 - All skills from Solder Assembler 2
- Ability to easily cross trained in various locations.
- Exceptional communication skills with peers, supervisors, and engineering teams Solder Assembler 4 - All skills from Solder Assembler 3
- Complete Mastery of procedures and processes in area as well as J-STD-001, S-level assembly techniques Solder Assembler 5 - All skills from Solder Assembler 4
- Ability to direct others
- Computer skills for AX transactions and other data entry requirements

Education, Experience, & Training:
Category Education, Experience, & Training Solder Assembler 1 - Basic soldering skills are required.
- Valencia EBA assembly class or similar training required. Solder Assembler 2 - One year of operator level experience required. Solder Assembler 3 - Two years of operator level experience required. Solder Assembler 4 - Two years of operator level experience require + Mastery of space level assembler Solder Assembler 5 - 5+ years of advanced experience required

Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
  • Some light lifting required
  • Sitting for long periods
  • Squatting or bending
  • Walking around the cell or production floor
  • Must be able to work with ITAR data without license.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance
