General Maintenance Worker

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The General Maintenance tech will assist members of the Facilities & Hangar Ops Department using a wide range of skills and abilities. Including but not limited to trouble shooting, repair, maintaining operating systems equipment at all Yulista offsite locations in Huntsville, Al.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform various daily housekeeping tasks, responsible for maintaining work and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion.

• Perform other various administrative duties as needed, assigned and/or required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

• Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment to ensure availability when needed.

• Prepares written materials which documents activities and/or conveys information.

• Transports tools, equipment and supplies required for the job.

• Trouble shoots systems to identify problems to effect repairs.

• Assist with planning, pricing, and execution of upcoming projects/construction

• Assist as needed for functional groups for upcoming audits

• Configuration of conference center at 8600 for upcoming events

• Install/repair items as needed for the cafe at 8600

• Help provide cost effective solutions for issues that arise in our current facility operations

• Assist in standup/teardown of the carcoon paint booth

• Perform work IAW with all safety protocols

• Operate company vehicles, forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts IAW with all safety protocols

• Perform facilities maintenance work at all locations while following FOD and tool control requirements based on the environment

• Maintain records of all work performed via the intranet Help Desk Ticket system as well as Maintenance5000

• Perform electrical tasks IAW NFPA70E standard, per training de-energizing is preferred. If this is not feasible to operation an energized work permit would need to be approved/completed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has direct reports and supervisory responsibilities. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks. Gives input but relies on Facilities Operations Manager on final decision making with assigned duties.

• Must adhere to all Yulista's Security and Safety policies, procedures, and protocols.

• Operation of company vehicles to drive to multiple locations.

• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

• Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Yulista's goals.

• Ability to multi-task.

• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, detect unobvious facts and issues, exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems, evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas.

• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, trustworthy - will handle confidential information routinely, follow processes, work independently, and stay on task with minimal supervision.

• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with external contacts such as customers, vendors, suppliers, etc.

• Frequent lifting and physical requirements including but not limited too stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders, and ability to lift and carry heavy loads.

• Must be able to work alone with little or no supervision.

• Must work well with others, manage time effectively and efficiently, and be able to adapt to changing work priorities.

• Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management and regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 10+ years of work-related experience and/or education preferred.

• Uses proper methods for lifting and moving heavy objects.

• Proper use of common hand and power tools.

• Understands and uses safety practices common to building, maintenance, and construction.

• Understands practices, processes, and materials used in building, maintenance, and construction.

• Must be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and blueprints.

• Must have a current valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Perform routine maintenance on company vehicles, such as replenishing fuel and monitoring fluid levels.

• A hands-free device must be used when making phone calls while driving.

• Must abide by ALL traffic laws and regulations while operating a motor vehicle for business purposes.

• Texting, consuming alcoholic beverages, and other illegal activity while driving or in the possession of a company vehicle is prohibited.

• Must have the ability to pass a drug screening and complete a background investigation.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

• Responds to after-hours emergency situations to resolve immediate concerns.

• Must have a working knowledge of common fire alarm, security alarm, and access control systems to include local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
