Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical field. PE License, RA License, Chartered Engineer License or equivalent technical professional license or certification. Experience managing data center design and in product development. Experience with data center specific or equivalent equipment/environments, including switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, building controls, security monitoring systems, and fire safety systems, with a working understanding of start-up/commissioning processes. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. In this role, you will expand the capacity of the Google Data Center Design team to scale with the rapidly expanding portfolio of Data Center builds across the United States. You will be responsible for developing design delivery strategies, managing the delivery of data center designs in the US West region, and managing Professional Design Services (e.g., Architect/Engineering firm) relationships across North and South America. You'll be responsible for trending quality performance and lessons learned across the design program, and consistent reporting of program health to senior leadership. You will manage projects for large-scale data centers, computer farms, networking, AC power distribution/conversion, and cooling methods at multiple scales, managing complex schedules, budgets, and broad inter-dependencies. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Manage multiple, simultaneous data center design projects from detailed design through construction administration, closeout, and handover to operations. Create and manage strategies for the execution of designs that leverage a standard baseline plan of record, and manage strategy for projects that require deviation from the baseline design (due to environmental, code, or other localization aspects). Gather internal requirements, generate potential options, present to the leadership team, and deliver design solutions that satisfy customers' needs. Overcome critical challenges while maintaining strict adherence to project timelines, quality, and costs, and managing a cross-functional set of stakeholders.
