Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Lab Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will handle incoming and outgoing phone calls with clients, verify information, confirm orders, and update client sample specifications in the LIMS system. You will be responsible for registering and logging daily samples, verifying results data, adding new customers and machine compartments to the database, and completing manual data entry. You will ensure test data is complete and correct, sort daily customer reports, and assist in shipping samples and warranty letters. The lab processes 1,000 to 1,100 samples daily, and each lab clerk manages approximately 300-350 samples once fully trained.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls with clients to verify information and confirm orders
- Update client sample specifications and changes in the LIMS system
- Register and log daily samples into the LIMS system via computer
- Verify results data and samples data match
- Add new customers and machine compartments to the database
- Verify customer address or machine ownership
- Complete manual data entry
- Ensure test data is complete and correct for evaluation
- Sort the lab's daily run of customer reports and feedback copies of sample reports
- Log in Level II coolant samples and ship out for test work
- Assist in shipping out other samples for test work
- Assist in getting warranty letters out
- Assist in invoicing special sample services
- Perform various administrative tasks to support the lab
- High school diploma, associate's degree, or GED
- Experience with sample login to a LIMS in a third-party analytical lab
- Clerical/administrative experience with some customer service experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and re-prioritize quickly
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively and take direction well
- Proactive in asking questions if help is needed
- Computer proficiency
- Mechanical aptitude or interest
- Team-oriented
- Ability to follow SOPs
- Understanding of lab guidelines and client specifications
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven, production environment

The lab team consists of less than 10 people, working in a very industrial and repetitive lab environment. The dress code is casual; close-toe shoes, jeans, and t-shirts are acceptable, but you must be prepared for potential sample spills. The lab operates from Monday to Friday, 7am - 3:30pm, with a possible flexible schedule from 8am - 4:30pm. The lab manager values team engagement, cross-training, and career progression, with opportunities for promotion after approximately one year. The team works together to process 900-1,000 samples daily, re-prioritizing tasks to meet client deadlines and ensuring timely completion of work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
