CYP Mental Health Practitioner The closing date is 19 November 2025 Are you looking for a rewarding and challenging role as a Band 6 Children and Young People’s Mental Health Practitioner? We are looking for applicants who have experience in evidence‑based therapeutic interventions, assessing and managing clinical risk, and who are willing to undertake further training and development. The Children and Young People’s West Cheshire Mental Health Team consists of experienced clinicians from a variety of professional disciplines who provide therapeutic input, manage risk and complexity, and work across multi‑agency settings. We offer a range of services, including assessment, therapy, family work, group work, consultation and training. Main duties of the job Your role will include: A high level of enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality, community‑based mental health services to children, young people, and their families. Experience in undertaking mental health assessments and providing interventions & formulations to address the needs of the client group. Experience of working with children and young people who, due to their mental and emotional health needs, present with a level of clinical risk. Experience of working under pressure in a demanding, fast‑paced environment. Skill to adapt and the flexibility to think on your feet due to the nature of your role. Access to transport or ability to travel to a variety of venues as part of the working day. Required qualifications and experience A recognised qualification in a relevant discipline, such as nursing, social work or allied health professionals. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties in a clinical setting. Knowledge and skills in applying a range of therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, or systemic therapy. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. A commitment to ethical practice and continuous learning. Person Specification Qualifications Professional registration with a recognised national body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England). Nationally recognised post‑qualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession (Social Work, Nursing, Allied Health Professional). Therapeutic training to an intermediate/diploma level. Knowledge and expertise Demonstrable working knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches (e.g. CBT, Family Therapy). Knowledge of Child Protection workings and practice. Working knowledge of Children related legislation. Experience of inter‑agency working. Experience of writing, implementing and evaluating Care/Treatment Plans. Experience of working with students/learners. Experience of providing clinical supervision. Experience Significant post‑qualification experience of working within a CYPMHS or Child Mental Health related field. Recognised experience of working within an environment where evidence‑based interventions have been delivered. Undertaking formal and informal clinical risk assessments and risk management planning. Undertaking mental health assessments. IT skills, including use of databases, Microsoft Office and clinical systems. Post‑qualifying experience of working within NHS community CYPMHS.
