Harvard Resource Solutions is seeking a Junior Buyer on a direct hire basis for their automotive supplier client in Detroit, MI.


Responsibilities of the Junior Buyer:

  • Collaborate with departments (sales, operations, finance) to support procurement needs.
  • Research suppliers and obtain quotes to assist with selection based on cost and quality.
  • Create and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain supplier relationships through communication and issue resolution.
  • Work with Inventory Control to help monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Assist in ensuring purchased goods meet quality standards, coordinating with the team on any issues.
  • Support the Purchasing Manager in tracking supplier performance.
  • Adhere to procurement policies and ethical standards.


Skills of the Junior Buyer:

  • Basic purchasing experience or exposure to a similar role.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.


Requirements of the Junior Buyer:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in purchasing or a related field.
  • Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems is a plus.
