Merkaz, an Israeli cafe in the CookNSolo restaurant family (co-owned by Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook), is looking for a line cook to join their team.
Currently open 11am-6pm Wednesday-Sunday, Merkaz serves pita sandwiches, fresh green salads, hummus and salatim platters at lunch, and prepared meals to-go in the evening. Candidates are hardworking, self-motivated, and value the guest experience. This position requires you to work clean, conscientiously, and efficiently. Open-mindedness and a willingness to learn and grow every day is a key to success in our kitchen. Also of note, Merkaz follows health & sanitation protocols in accordance with the CDC, operating a clean and safe kitchen and workspace.
The primary role of this position is cooking on the line, but our small team requires every person to take on tasks that contribute to the greater kitchen operations. Core responsibilities include:
* Setting up and maintaining a clean work station
* Prepping daily mise en place
* Executing our menu the the fullest extent
* Effectively and efficiently communicating with coworkers with a think-on-your-feet mentality
* Partially interfacing with guests to represent the food we serve
* Pitching in wherever needed and helping ensure the success of our small but mighty team
A minimum of 1 year experience is required. **Compensation Details**
Compensation: Hourly ($15.00) plus tips
