Job Summary and Qualifications

  • Prepares patients, collects relevant information for completion of procedures.
  • Performs all sonographic procedures following defined protocols.
  • Transfers and positions the patient in a safe manner.
  • Observant of patients= conditions. Notifies physician or supervisor of unusual occurrences.
  • Compiles appropriate records to expedite results.
  • Analyzes the quality of images and processes as required.
  • Understands and operates electronic information systems.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies and a clean, organized working environment.
  • Participates in continuing education activities to expand/enhance knowledge of sonography.
  • Initiates patient teaching including family and/or significant other.
  • Involvement in Quality Control/Quality Improvement.

What qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE:

Required - One year experience in a hospital Ultrasound Department.

Preferred -One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist; additional year experience as Mammographer, in addition to required experience.

EDUCATION:

Required - Graduate of an accredited school of sonography. RDMS certified. CPR eligible.

Preferred - In addition to required education, certification in CPR, ARRT, and Mammography.
